Julia Katharos, MA, CCTP, EMDR Trained

Resident in Counseling

Julia holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Her approach is grounded in the connection between the mind, body, nervous system, and relationships. She draws from Polyvagal Theory, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment science, somatic approaches, humanistic and existential therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and spiritual perspectives.
Julia believes the nervous system plays an important role in how we experience ourselves and our relationships. She works with clients to better understand the patterns, emotions, and responses that shape their experiences. Her work focuses on developing greater self-awareness and connection rather than simply trying to change or eliminate symptoms.
Julia works with pre-adolescents, adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating complex trauma, grief, crisis, suicidal ideation, attachment wounds, domestic, intimate partner, and familial abuse, first responder experiences, and men’s issues.
Julia believes the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work. She connects with her clients through warmth, authenticity, directness, and deep attunement. She meets clients where they are and creates space for them to slow down, understand themselves, and feel more connected to who they are.
Outside of her practice, Julia enjoys hiking in the mountains, mindful tree-bathing, over-analyzing crime documentaries, listening to classical music, making memories with loved ones, and dark humor.
